Allie Monday

There are all sorts of badass women in the world. There are short ones and fat ones, brown ones and white ones, cis ones and trans ones, liberal ones and conservative ones. Badasses come in all shapes and sizes, colors and beliefs, backgrounds and ethnicities.

A badass is simply a woman who is unafraid to be herself.

Allie Monday, of Lady Groove, photographs badass woman. She takes women of all sizes, colors, shapes and showers them with love, acceptance, and courage.

Then she lets them be exactly who they are.

Allie doesn’t airbrush anything. She doesn’t photoshop away wrinkles or double chins or sagging breasts. She refuses to believe a woman needs to be fixed in order to be beautiful.

And that is how she photographs women as the badasses that they are.

Because every body is a canvas and every woman an amazing piece of art.

Allie isn’t free of fear. Many days she has to talk herself down from the ledge of anxiety. She has achieved huge success in her business but life is still life and, because Allie believes in honesty, she doesn’t pretend it is anything but.

Here Allie shares it all. Her truth. The truth of the women she photographs. And the undeniable truth in the beauty of every woman who lets herself be seen just as she is.

Some things we talk about…

  • overcoming an eating disorder and being ten years sober
  • leaving the airbrushed world of wedding photography for the real world of boudoir
  • doing what you love no matter how bold or terrifying
  • falling in love with women and finding beauty in every body

“I’m spiritual. The divine is inside of me. I’m human. I was born with the divine inside of me and as you go along in life fears and lies come into play and you spend the rest of your life finding truth and finding who you are.”

“It brought insane freedom for me to not have to shoot in a fake way anymore and to know that I can use your curves and I can use your breasts that hang low and I can use your stretch marks as part of my art and part of the creativity. There is no hiding in that and I feel great!”
