Alisha Sommer
Alisha Sommer is a freelance writer and photographer who is, at heart, a storyteller. She is a mama of three, a lover of wine, words, and light. She began her own business at home, as a young mom, wanting to know if writing could become a job and money could be made from stories. Now, nearly ten years later, Alisha earns a living from her creativity. But it’s been a slow build that’s required patience, perseverance, and consistency. Here we talk about the beginning, the slow build, and all that lies in between.
I do believe that everybody is creative and I believe that everybody can write. Everybody has a story to tell. We are human beings. Any person who just spends the time to put words onto paper is a writer.

Some things we talk about…
- Starting a business as a stay-at-home mom with three young kids
- Finding oneself after parenthood
- The truth behind writer’s block and how to move through it
- Defining yourself and claiming your own identity and
- What it really looks like to build a dream
“We get caught up in believing that the only way we can give ourselves the identity of writer or artist is if it is validated through monetary compensation, but often times you have to own it first before you can get the monetary compensation.”
“At the end of the day, at some point, you just have to trust yourself. And that’s a practice. Once you develop that practice of trusting yourself, the art and the creativity take care of themselves.”
