emerge
an immersive full-bodied writing experience
“emerge is powerful. i cried nearly the entire time. how often does a group of women get to really let their hair down & share what’s REALLY going on in their heads without judgment? all i could think was ‘whoa – there’s some seriously heavy shit goin’ down here’ as my heart opened even more & empathy soared.” – carol c.
emerge
/v/ to become known. to rise from. to come into being through evolution.
where insights wait just below the surface to be called up from the dark through gentle guidance, whole-body listening, and free, full-permission writing. where nothing is off limits or out of line, and labels like “good,” “bad,” “right,” “wrong,” simply don’t exist.
this is not for the Writer. you don’t need to see yourself as an Artist. this is for the human who wants to go deeper, know their own selves. comb the wild inner terrain to reveal the untamed and the uncultivated. to locate one’s own truth. and delight in one’s own story.

i have learned over the years that writing rooted in body sounds different than words straight from the mind.
there is a way we write when trying to be good or do good. when writing for the reader more than the writer. through years of training, we have learned what writing is and how to do it well. but what about the wild within? what about the raw and the holy? what about the things we don’t even tell ourselves until we lift off the lid and dive into the deep?

emerge is a space of play. where you are called, held, lulled deep into your own earth to skip, jump, dance with the melody that is you. and only you.
it is an invitation to unfurl, release, relax. a beckoning to your own belonging.
there are no rules, only guidelines. i do not teach, i facilitate. we are not gathered to impress or prove but to open and befriend.
we do not judge, advise or give feedback. we receive, celebrate and honor. we are each other’s soul family.
come to play. come to open. to love.
for anyone who can lift a pen or use a keyboard. for any being yearning to know themselves more, move closer in, turn towards the richness that is this life.
“thank you for this wonderful experience in emerge. my sense is that you are holding a magical space that beautifully connects us in the ways we need to be linked. it is sacred, feels essential and i can’t imagine having missed being a part of it.” – julie m.
“i love the safe space to write and connect with others. hearing everyone’s honest, vulnerable, deep writing is so moving each week. the whole experience feels like group writing/body therapy. there is so much deep healing happening each week in the group that I can feel, which is incredible. i love how you integrate the body into the writing experience in multiple ways too. the whole experience feels like soul medicine… wow.” – emma f.
how it works:
we breathe.
because our days are harried, our lives full.
we breathe ourselves back into our bodies, our space, ourselves.
we become the refuge.
then we move.
intuitively. the language of your body you were born knowing. before words, sentences and statements. the way your fingers curl and uncurl, your hips sway and swagger, your chest expands and contracts. the way of your ancestors. the way of your soul.
you cannot move wrong, you can only move you.
we move to go below the words and into the wisdom of muscle and tendon, heart and spirit. we move to enter mystery, rest in nuance, and relax into spaciousness. we move because our bodies know things our minds have not yet learned and take us places our being longs to go.
and then we write.
we write the words that have not yet been said. we don’t write the good words or the nice ones or the right ones. we right the true ones. the not yet polished, the yet to be edited, the awkward and the new.
we write words to record the unraveling and grab hold of the insights.
last, we share.
because to give voice to the personal in a space free of feedback, advice, or criticism is to give voice to your whole self. to hear you, possibly for the first time, out loud. to be loved as you. completely. utterly. wholly.
this is not just writing. this is not just moving. this is not just breathing.
this is a universe unto itself where new worlds reveal themselves and
a new being emerges.
“daphne holds a very powerful space that has a feeling of magic and ritual. she guides you into deeper layers within yourself and helps you connect to your writing from there. the permission-giving feels like such a relief to my whole system. daphne’s way of guiding us into an embodied place before writing really makes such a difference for what ends up on the page. thank you, daphne, for this beautiful journey.” – lise l.

“i just love emerge. the movement paired with the poetry unlocks something in a very different manner, and the way daphne speaks to each element is so beautiful. it’s really something unique and i feel blessed to be a part of it.” – alana g.
about daphne
i came into movement after a lifetime of living in my head.
it changed everything. everything.
it changed the way i cooked and cleaned, the way i loved and listened. and it changed the way i wrote. because words that come from the body are not the same words that come from the head.
i am a certified intuitive movement teacher. i’ve been writing my whole life. when the two come together, we write differently and we live differently.
welcome to different.
“what i love about emerge is the opportunity to be present.
in the moment
in the group
in the writing
in the sharing
in what comes up in me, different each time
in what the poems spark for me, different each time.
in the fullness of each session, unique and beautiful and raw and real and truthful.”
– erica m.
“emerge is astounding. i loved hearing all the different voices. each reading was long enough to absorb each unique voice, and thereby each unique and much-loved soul.” – andi a.
