an 8-month exploration into a new way of being.

we are taught to live from our heads. to remove ourselves from body. the body of our being, the body of the earth, the body of the present.

when we come back to the body, we come home.

we return to wholeness.

for eight months we will gather once a month to dive into the genius that is “radical wholeness: the embodied present and the ordinary grace of being” by philip shepherd.

“a practical guide for… finding your way out of the head and reuniting with your body’s intelligence.”

“if you seek to remember your wholeness, you will find yourself softening into an increasingly porous relationship with the Present and steering your life more and more deeply into the felt harmonies of being.”

how we gather:

embodied present practice:

we will begin each 90-minute gathering with a short grounding embodied present practice.

a practice to bring us out of our heads and into our bodies. to shift our center of awareness from our head to our heart to our pelvis.

“the core of my being is only truly activated to the energy of the Present when my center of awareness merges with it–and that happens when the center of my awareness arrives on the perineum, uniting my thinking with my being.”

writing:

while the conversation will follow its own flow, we will begin with a passage and a writing prompt and/or questions to provide helpful focus to the start of our discussion.

we will practice with embodied writing: writing that is more felt than known. words that rise from the body and form in the core.

“if your prose is going to be alive, only the body feels that life. so when i write the most important thing for me is the rhythm of the prose, the melody, the way it gathers and releases and gathers again. ’embodied’ language caresses life, walks beside it, embraces it, without any sense of grasping life or holding it still.”

sharing:

each month we will dive into a new chapter but know that you are never obligated to read the entire chapter. this book is about how we live. we bring our own experience into the sharing.

whether you have read every word or skimmed a few paragraphs, you are here because you want to live in wholeness. we all have something to share about what this means and how we do it no matter what we’ve read or deeply we’ve practiced.

“what the body knows includes what resonates through the Present as well as experience, reason, knowledge, memory, skills and understanding. it integrates all of that.”

Q&A with philip:

we will have the honor of being in conversation with philip for two bonus sessions. during this time philip will answer your questions about radical wholeness and the embodied present process.

there are no right or wrong questions. no question is too big or too small and no question is off-limits. let your curiosity be your guide.

“curiosity is the engine of learning, and curiosity isn’t fueled by answers but by questions… a question moves you forward.”

why radical wholeness:

from the foreward:

“through a fragmented lens, all we can experience is separation. through a unifed lens, we experience our wholeness. once there, we find our sacred purpose, our partnership with the world.” – jeff brown, foreward to radical wholenss

radical wholeness, the book:

“revealing our culture’s blind-spot, Radical Wholeness documents the devastation inflicted by that disability on our personal lives and the planet. but the book is also a practical guide for initiating a personal  revolution. by finding your way out of the head and reuniting with your body’s intelligence, you can ground yourself in a wholeness of being that feels and supports the harmonies not just of your life, but of our wakeful world.

visionary, yet fundamentally practical. profoundly personal with global ramifications, Radical Wholeness promises to take you on an eye-opening journey home.” – philip shepherd
